Vigils Supporting Same-Gender Marriage to Be Held at MN State Capitol

Vigils will be held at the Minnesota state capitol during the floor debates on same-gender marriage. The Faith Roundtable working with OutFront MN and Minnesotans United is organizing an ongoing vigil to be held every hour during the Floor Debate at the Capitol on the same-gender marriage bill.

Clergy from many faith communities are being asked to lead the vigils. Lay members and allies are encouraged to participate. ReconcilingWorks and the Twin Cities Chapter will send out notice when we receive the date of the debates, which may come soon.

·         Please ask your pastor to lead a vigil for an hour. Faith Leaders are asked to attend and to dress in clergy garb and/or vestments whether they are leading or not.

·         Please invite and sign-up members of your congregation to come to the Capitol to participate in the hourly vigils.

·         Please recruit volunteers to assist for 4-hour shifts during this event.

If you are interested in serving as a volunteer, to sign-up church members to participate or volunteer, or confirm that your pastor is willing to lead one of the vigil hours, please contact Pastor Anita Hill at or Twin Cities ReconcilingWorks Co-Chair Lennore Bevis at  We have a short window of time to secure leaders and participants. Please act now!

Praying that same-gender marriage will soon be legal in Minnesota,

The Rev. Anita C. Hill, Regional Director, ReconcilingWorks
Lennore Bevis, Co-Chair, for the Board of the Twin Cities Chapter of Reconcilingworks
